About Phreno

Head impact, finally made visible.

Phreno started with a simple question: why can athletes measure so much, but have no record of motion measured at their helmet?

Our mission

Athletes in high-impact sports deserve a record of the motion measured at their helmet. We build instruments that make detected impacts visible, so athletes, coaches, families, and clinicians have more context without treating a sensor reading as a diagnosis.

What we hold to.

Athletes first

We build for the people taking the hits. If it doesn’t help them, it doesn’t ship.

Honest about data

Phreno is an awareness tool, not a diagnosis. We’re precise about what our data does and doesn’t mean.

Quietly engineered

The best gear disappears. Our hardware is built to be forgotten on your helmet.

Nick Kasten, CEO

Nick Kasten

CEO

Nick Kasten, born and raised in Colorado, has firsthand experience with concussions from skiing, football, and other sports. Those experiences motivated him to help athletes keep a record of motion measured at their helmet, providing context without treating a sensor reading as a diagnosis.

His journey into tech and entrepreneurship began in 2020 with sneaker bots on Twitter, sparking his passion for software engineering. Later that year, he launched a software suite that helped over 1,200 businesses across Europe and Asia streamline operations. In 2023, he joined Flozy.com as Customer Success Lead, where he built and scaled a community of 40,000 businesses while contributing to website design and more. Now, he’s fully focused on Phreno while working toward his computer science degree.
